Hi guys and welcome back. Last week I gave you the top 5 Netflix series which was a big succes a lot of you guys read it. Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
So as promised today will be about movies. I will give you my personal top 5 recommendations of some must watch movies on Netflix.
I just realized that I limited myself by calling this Netflix recommendations... hehe stupid me. There are actually a lot of great movies that are not on Netflix + Netflix also doesn't have the rights to every movie in every country. Which makes it hard for me to pick good movies that are available for everyone. If you want me to do a movies recommendations in general which don't have to be movies that are specifically on Netflix then comment in the comments below. I'll will be able to make that happen no problem.
Enough talking lets dive into today's article: Top 5 Netflix recommendations January 2018. You might be thinking : Wait January? You're going to do this every month?! Yeah ! good thing I have a lot of spare time to watch Netflix :P. It's a big sacrifice I know I know, but for you guys I will do it gladly.
Numbero uno : Shawshank Redemption
This is probably one of the best 90's movie there is and maybe even one of the best movies EVER made. Besides that it's a amazing movie it is actually based on a novel of one of my favorite authors : Stephen king. The novel Rita Hayworth and Shawshank redemption was the basis for the movie Shawshank redemption. After they bought the rights to use the book, they started writing the script for the movie which took 8 weeks.
Shawshank redemption is about the story of banker called : Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins), who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover, despite his claims of innocence. During his time, he befriends a fellow prisoner, contraband smuggler Ellis "Red" Redding (played by Morgan Freeman), and becomes a plays a key role in a money laundering operation led by the prison warden Samuel Norton (played by Bob Gunton). William Sadler, Clancy Brown, Gil Bellows, and James Whitmore appear in supporting roles.
Shawshank redemption is to me the most brilliant prison escape story I have ever heard. Therefore I don't watch series like Prison Break because once you saw something as good as Shawshank redemption your expectations become pretty high. I mean of course you keep trying and hoping for something better, but this leaves me disappointing most of the time so I stopped trying.
Numberrrrrr 2: Jungle book
Haha, good one....... you can take that off the board now. No, I am serious.
Jungle book is my favorite Disney movie. Ever since I watched it on video I was hooked! The positive vibes it has, the catchy songs, the beautiful imagination of Disney that created a story of a boy raised by wolves. Who eventually befriends the bear Baloo where he has the most amazing adventures with. Always just escaping the tiger Shere Khan in a playful way.
I like how Disney is remaking old Disney movies with a more modern look. Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Jungle Book. They make it look so real by using real people and surroundings but still retaining the original story and the dreamy touch that every Disney fan loves.
I am excited to see what they are going to remake next.
After I watched Jungle book with a friend, when I was in Berlin I just felt this overwhelming feeling of happiness. It reminded me of my younger years. I think you did a pretty good job if you can transfer that feeling through a movie. I am amazed by what they can create nowadays with the current technology.
As a kid, I was a bit of a dreamer and I guess l am still am today. A lot of this was supported by the Disney movies who extended my imagination. I guess this is why I am still so into science fiction books today. This world is a place with a lot of responsibilities and stress. so I find it often comforting that you can still escape reality by getting lost in your own thoughts, just you and your own world.
Number trois : The hobbit
When you think of The Hobbit you think of trilogy related to the movies of Lord of the rings, right?. But what you probably didn't know is that The Hobbit was based on a novel created in 1937!? Originally the writer wanted to make a goodnight story for his kids.
Yes, a goodnight story. Originally the writer wasn't even going to publish it but was encouraged by friends who thought it was a great story. Who would have thought that they would make a movie about it now?
The story is about a hobbit (a race similar to humans but not as tall) called Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo lived his life in peace in his little house in Bag-end. He smoked the pipe wrote stories and liked to be on his own. He didn't like surprises because he couldn't control surprises and he really just wanted to live a normal life.
But that's the funny thing with destiny. You are bound to it. Regardless of what you try to avoid it. Eventually, the puzzle pieces will fall into place and you will realize that you were meant to do that something.
As did Bilbo Baggins when the great wizard Gandalf was standing on his doorstep one day. He asked him to go on an adventure with him and 13 other dwarfs. Gandalf believed that Bilbo could be of use to them in their journey to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim their ancestral treasure, which was now in the possession of Smaug the dragon.
A movie about a quest, friendship, brotherhood and making sacrifices for a greater good. If you like science fiction, humor and adventure then let The Hobbit take you on a ride.
Number quattro : Les intouchables
Les intouchables a beautiful story. It's about Philippe, a wealthy man who owns a privat hotel, who got disabled after a paragliding accident.
Philippe is having interviews with candidates for the job of live-in caregiver. In search for someone to take care of him. He meets Driss. Driss was there just for a signature. So that he could prove he applied to a job and got turned down so he could continue to receive his welfare benefits.
What Driss didn't expect was that he received a signed letter saying he was invited to do a trial period for the live-in caregiver job.
His methods in taking care of him might be a little bit unorthodox but Philippe has piece with the way he does it cause Driss is the only one that doesn't pitty him because of his condition.
A real feel good movie about friendship, humor and love. A must watch. Go check it out!
Last but not least Number 5. : Definitely, Maybe
I was thinking of a action movie or a chick flick for the last movie on this list but then I remembered this movie and I immediatly changed my mind.
This movie is about a man called Will. Will has a daughter. His daughters life question has been how did you and mum meet?
When Will decides to tell his daughter the story of how he met her mother, he discovers that a second look at the past might also give him a second chance at the future.
I guess it is kind of a chick flick because it is about love but this is not your standard girl meets guy scenario. This movie has everything : humor, love, friendship, Hope. The biggest message of the movie is : Be happy with the things that you have in live and hold on to them.
These were my Top 5 Netflix movies recommendations of January. I hoped you liked it. If you did?
Then Leave a comment below and tell me which movie you liked the most or what you didn't agree on ? I like to hear your opinion :)!
